Challenges in Managing and Preventing Pain

Codesigning a Patient-Centered Mindfulness Treatment for Chronic Pain

The overall aim of this study is to find better ways to help people with chronic pain who have received medication treatment for opioid use. We want to hear your feedback on your experience with the treatment you received during the HOPE trial so that we can improve it. To do this, we will hold two focus groups with people who participated in the HOPE trial. This will allow us to identify gaps and develop a treatment that better addresses patients’ needs and concerns.

You can help by sharing your thoughts in two focus groups with trained professionals from the University of Pittsburgh.

  • Each session will take about two hours each (4 hours total).
  • Focus groups will have up to 5-6 HOPE trial participants.
  • You will be paid up to $200 for your time.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Have taken or currently prescribed a medication for opioid use
  • Have chronic pain
  • Received treatment through the HOPE Trial at University of New Mexico

This study is being conducted by the University of Pittsburgh. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw from the research study at any time. The information you give us will be completely confidential and will not be shared with your medical team or anyone else outside the research study team.

This study does not require you to alter your opioid use or change your medications.
